Learning to make music opens up new worlds for adults and children alike and can be one of the best ways to relax, stimulate the mind and have fun - all at the same time!! Cool huh?
My name is John Furlong and I have been playing music in wide range of styles for over 35 years and have taught both drums and classical guitar for over 10 years.
I am a fully qualified music teacher employed by North Somerset Council teaching Guitar, Ukelele, Banjo and Drums in schools throughout the region.
Hopefully you have visited my website because you or your child are interested in learning more about playing the drums or guitar.
But briefly this is what I offer:
Enjoyable drum and guitar lessons - learn all you need to know and nothing you don't!
I have a wealth of teaching experience and musical knowledge and believe in making each lesson varied and enjoyable. Pupils will progress at their pace and gain a great sense of achievement by keeping a healthy balance of learning new (and improving existing) techniques through learning songs and music styles that inspire them.
All ages and abilities welcome
I teach all ages and all abilities. Most of my guitar pupils are beginners to intermediate levels and my drum pupils range from beginners to seasoned professionals who need a bit of a brush up. Needless to say I am fully CRB checked.
I have played in numerous bands over the years and have covered most genres!
Today I perform with a number of bands including Moments Of Pleasure: The Music Of Kate Bush. One of the UK's top tribute bands, we provide a great opportunity to see and hear the music of Kate Bush performed accurately and affectionately with plenty of love and emotion, capturing the tone and emotion of Kate's songs perfectly.
I also perform regularly with Flash Harry, one of the South West's leading Folk / Rock / Country Blues bands and Lost 11, Bristol's finest close harmony Electric Country Blues bands. More details below.
Check out the gig list at the bottom of this page and come and see us play regularly - maybe even buy the CD! Hopefully you will be inspired enough to want to learn to play yourself.
